Antiquorum Watch Auction - Hong Kong

Antiquorum Auctioneers, the world's premier watch auctioneer, is pleased to present its' auction of "Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces" to be held on February 26th at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong. Collectors will have the opportunity to bid on 452 exceptional modern and vintage timepieces including a collection of extremely rare and highly complicated Jaeger LeCoultre watches and a Patek Philippe ref. 3939 in pink gold. Previews will be held in Hong Kong prior to the sale.

Amongst the highlights of the sale are three outstanding Jaeger LeCoultre timepieces to be sold individually. Originally sold as a set named "Hybris Mecanique," the collection, produced in 2009, has remained in the hands of a private collector and will be offered at auction for the first time in Antiquorum's February 26th sale. The set includes the following:

- A Jaeger LeCoultre White Gold Gyrotourbillon One, No.02/20. This exceptional and highly complicated timepiece is an 18K white gold perpetual calendar bi-retrograde date spherical tourbillon wristwatch with equation of time and leap year calendar. It is accompanied by a fitted box and magnifying glass.
Estimate: HKD 1,900,000 - 2,300,000




- A Jaeger LeCoultre White Gold Gyrotourbillon Two, No. 02/20. This extraordinary watch is a large 18K white gold reversible spherical tourbillon wristwatch and is offered with  a fitted box, guarantee certificate, instruction booklet and magnifying glass.
Estimate: HKD 1,400,000 - 1,700,000




- A Jaeger LeCoultre White Gold Reverso 'Triptyque' Grand Complication No. 02/20.  This rare example is an 18K white gold perpetual calendar retrograde date, triple-dial reversible tourbillon wristwatch with equation of time, civil time, sidereal time and sky chart and is accompanied by the original fitted box, guarantee certificate, instruction booklet and magnifying glass.
Estimate: HKD 2,300,000 - 3,000,000



The Patek Philippe collector will want to bid on the Patek Philippe ref. 3939 in pink gold. Sold in 2010 and offered for the first time in an Antiquorum auction, this superb minute-repeating wristwatch with one minute tourbillon regulator is accompanied by an additional case back, COSC certificate and Certificate of Origin.
Estimate: HKD 2,750,000 - 3,200,000




Antiquorum experts are also pleased to offer the Patek Philippe ref. 1518, produced in 1946. Launched in 1941 as the world's first production perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch, the Patek Philippe ref. 1518 can be considered one of the most important developments by the company and instrumental in setting them apart from contemporary rivals. Production continued with minor variants until 1952 with a total of only 281 examples manufactured. This extremely rare 18K yellow gold wristwatch features a perpetual calendar, moon phases, square button chronograph, register and tachometer.
Estimate: HKD 1,900,000 - 2,500,000



For the IWC collector, there is the IWC 'Il Destriero Scafusia' Unique Piece No. 100/125, made in 1997. It is an exceptional platinum cased minute repeating perpetual calendar wristwatch with split second chronograph.
Estimate: HKD 1,700,000 - 2,200,000





Also offered is the Patek Philippe ref. 5131J World Time. Released at Basel World in 2008 the Patek Philippe world-time with cloisonne dial Ref.5131 was promoted as much as a work of art as it was for any technical achievement. Each dial is hand made by an artisan trained in enameling and requires both artistic and chemical skills to mix the enamel correctly. This magnificent reference, sold in 2010, is a self-winding, water-resistant 18K yellow gold wristwatch with world-time system and cloisonne enamel dial.
Estimate: HKD 880,000 - 1,200,000



Vacheron Constantin fans will be eager to acquire the Vacheron Constantin ref. 4072. This 18K yellow gold chronograph wristwatch with two-tone pulsations register dial is accompanied by a Vacheron & Constantin certificate of authenticity.
Estimate: HKD 380,000 - 480,000





Pocket watch enthusiasts will be interested to note that there will be a very fine Tiffany & Co. pocket watch included in the sale. Produced in circa 1890, it is an 18K gold minute-repeating perpetual calendar split-second chronograph pocket watch in a stone-set hunting case.
Estimate: HKD 350,000 - 425,000
